There are two ways for the project:

Method 1: Invest at least 100,000 euros in a Start up company in Italy that has been in operation for more than three years. Apply for self-employed permit, and work in the startup company as a member of the board of directors or as an auditor.

Method 2: Establish a start up company in Italy with at least 50,000 euros.

Process Overview:

STEP 1 Direct Application- get the Nulla Osta

Main documents:

Application form for ISV

Presentation deck (in .ppt format or equivalent)

Forecast of costs and revenues (business plan)

Cover letter for proof of financial resources and attached files

Copy of your passport

STEP 2 Go to the competent Embassy or Consulate- get the visa

Nulla Osta ISV including provisional police certificate of no impediment for entry purposes

Certificate of suitable accommodation in Italy (e.g. hotel booking)

STEP 3 after your arrival in Italy within 8 days - ask for the permit

Two postal bulletins, of €30.46 and €50.00 each (to be paid at the post office)

A €16.00 revenue stamp ("marca da bollo")

Photocopy of your entire passport (all internal pages included)

2 passport-size photographs

Certificate of suitable accommodation in Italy

STEP 4 Renew the residence permit

After one year, no later than 60 days before the expiry date of the residence permit, the applicant submits a formal application for the renewal of the residence permit to the Questura. The application must include:

a.a certificate of incorporation and articles of association of the innovative startup;

b.evidence that the applicant has an adequate annual income from lawful sources.
